With the aim of strengthening the capacities of the participants in social, organisational and commercial aspects, as well as exchanging experiences, the team of Envol Vert Peru – Tingo Mar\u00eda carried out a day of exchange between farmers of the localities of Jos\u00e9 Carlos Mari\u00e1tegui, \u00c1rabe and Anda.\u00a0This activity took place in the village of UTC BAMBU – in the farm LA PODEROSA (“The powerful one”).<\/p>\n

The day started with a welcome by the project coordinator and the owner of the farm, Mr. Edgar Sifuentes, the participants were given an introductory speech about the day’s program.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, the farmers were taken on a guided tour of the farm to see the cocoa plots associated with trees and thus discovered a perfect example of an agroforestry system<\/a> (cocoa\/mahogany\/copaiba\/moena). In addition, the benefits of conservation were demonstrated during the visit by the engineer Steffanny Bashi, who highlighted the importance of dominant trees and endangered species.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, didactic presentations were given on the use of the Genipa americana<\/em> fruit (jagua or huito) as well as on meliponiculture and beekeeping. These were innovative and feasible workshops for the participants. They aimed to present economic activities that are complementary to cocoa cultivation and favorable to forest conservation.<\/p>\n

A great day in which we sought to encourage producers and our allies from the Alto Huallaga cocoa agro-industrial cooperative to learn and exchange knowledge, and above all, to have a vision of sustainable agriculture through successful experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div>
