In this month of March, we finalized a new stage of the “Seed Network” project with 28 participants from the Pichanaki region (Peruvian high Amazon basin). With the aim of developing the sale of seeds as an economic alternative to coffee production, we identified the seed trees present in the coffee plots. This activity was carried out in collaboration with a team from the Peruvian National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA). 83 trees were identified, belonging to 22 different native species, including cedar, moena amarilla, nogal negro and tornillo.<\/p>\n

In order to continue this work, the next few months will be dedicated to evaluating the possibility of creating an association of seed producers. With the support of the actors and experts we have met so far, we will organize meetings to ensure the technical and administrative training of new seed producers. We hope to be able to work very soon with the municipalities of the surrounding towns and why not with other NGOs and institutions based in Peru!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
