With its 40,000 hectares and 7 different types of forest, the CCYM has one of the richest biodiversities of the Amazonian forest. Since its creation in 2006, a large number of animal and plant species in danger of extinction have been observed there (<\/span>giant otter<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>pink dolphin<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>huapo colorado<\/span><\/a>\u2026). This biodiversity, which until now could be observed with our eyes, will soon be scientifically catalogued with the help of our partner, the <\/span>SPYGEN laboratory<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

In collaboration with this French company and <\/span>Biodiversit\u00e9 Amazonienne<\/span><\/a>, we led a scientific expedition in the concession to sample 12 water points such as rivers, lagoons and different types of peat bogs. The sampling techniques are done from a boat when there is a flow and from the bank when the water is stagnant. The Amazon rain and unexpected encounters with illegal trespassers turned the 4 days originally planned for this adventure into 6. The unexpected events are part of the forest but did not prevent us from carrying out our mission!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Our goal is to protect endangered species and to advance science. To this end, we have collected DNA from the fauna of the CCYM, which SPYGEN is in charge of analysing. This will allow us to better understand the forests that we conserve and to encourage the academic and scientific communities to come and conduct research there. This data will give us more information on the fauna present and will help us to put in place protection measures for the most vulnerable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The biodiversity observed during the 6-day expedition leaves us eager to receive the results of the analysis.
