On 21 July 2024, farmers from the village of Santa Rosa de Ocopa participated for the first time, with the support of the Envol Vert team from Pichanaki, in the fair for the patron saint festivities of Puerto Prado (Rio Tambo district).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The visitors were very curious and eager to try the different products prepared by our participants from the village of Santa Rosa in order to make the nut of the Black Walnut tree (<\/span>Juglans neotropica<\/span><\/i>) known. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Different products were prepared for the fair, such as lollipops, punch, chicha and cakes; our team of fairground workers was made up of 5 women and 3 men, who were able to share the preparation of their recipes, and above all explain the work they have been doing with the Black Walnut tree and the numerous benefits that its nut has in terms of its nutritional value. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

The reception was very good from the visitors, both adults and children liked the unique taste of this nut and congratulated the participants for these innovative products and the use of this nut, we were all very proud to offer for sale products made from this raw material that is still little known.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the commercialisation of these products, an income of 521.00 soles was generated, as well as raising awareness, both for a more diverse and sustainable diet and for the preservation of our forests, which offer us many riches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the use of this <\/span>Juglans neotropica<\/span><\/i> species whose value in standing form can generate significant economic income for the farmers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

The project participants expressed their motivation to continue preparing delicious dishes with the nut and to be able to continue sharing them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
