This day marked a significant moment for the 28 participants (5 children, 13 women and 10 men), who were able to appreciate the rewards of their work. After two years of intensive training in meliponiculture (stingless beekeeping), they were able to harvest their first boxes of honey from native bees.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 sep-underline sep-solid fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-four\" style=\"--awb-margin-top-small:0px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:0px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h4 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:16.8;--minFontSize:16.8;line-height:1.29;\"><div class=\"fusion-fa-align-left\"><i class=\"fb-icon-element-1 fb-icon-element fontawesome-icon fa-seedling fas circle-no\" style=\"--awb-iconcolor:#3aaa35;--awb-font-size:30px;--awb-margin-bottom:5%;\"><\/i><\/div>A local brand for honey: \u201cNativa Miel\u201d<\/h4><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The commercialization of honey from the<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tetragonisca angustula<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bee is underway, and the participants unanimously chose the brand name \u2018Nativa Miel\u2019. The name was enthusiastically chosen, reinforcing their commitment to this new source of income. The first workshop focused on cooperativism, a key partnership model for a lasting and equitable organization, addressing fundamental questions such as why and how to partner. This moment of exchange allowed other groups to observe the organized and collective work of this community, which proved to be inspiring and motivating. Visitors witnessed the production of biol (an organic fertilizer), the distribution of tasks and strategies to overcome organizational challenges. The proceeds from this sale will be used to invest in new boxes for the bees, as well as allowing families to buy Christmas gifts for their children.
