The cold weather of winter marks the beginning of planting season in Tarn (France), for both fruit and vegetable plants. It’s an ideal time to start planting young shoots.<\/p>\n

Once again, the Cabrols farm hosted the Envol Vert tree sale. This year, a special feature marked the event: all the trees on offer at free prices came from local nurseries in the Tarn region, partners of the association. This was an opportunity to showcase local growers and promote varieties suited to our region. This group of nursery owners grow plants of local, ancient species, promoting sustainable production adapted to the area.<\/p>\n

With the invaluable support of a dozen volunteers, the farm’s barn has been transformed into a real place of exchange and discovery. The nursery people and technicians were able to advise the public, providing invaluable information on the varieties best suited to each type of soil and climate. At the end, everybody left with the ideal species for their garden or farming project.<\/p>\n<\/div>

More than forty species of tree were on offer, mainly woodland trees with a wide range of objectives. These trees play a fundamental role in protecting the soil, creating windbreaks, balancing biodiversity, etc…. In response to concerns about climate change, new species were added to the catalogue this year. So, it was possible to discover varieties such as the Chinese quince, the Japanese medlar and the Bohemian olive tree.<\/p>\n

Above all, the day was an opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a convivial atmosphere. Over mulled wine, spiced juice or homemade cr\u00eapes. Participants had the opportunity to meet up, talk and share their experiences.
