in addition to several bilateral meetings with different actors and ministries.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 sep-underline sep-solid fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-four\" style=\"--awb-margin-top:1.5%;--awb-margin-top-small:0px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:0px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h4 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:16.8;--minFontSize:16.8;line-height:1.29;\"><div class=\"fusion-fa-align-left\"><i class=\"fb-icon-element-2 fb-icon-element fontawesome-icon fa-angle-double-right fas circle-no\" style=\"--awb-iconcolor:#ea773d;--awb-font-size:30px;--awb-margin-bottom:5%;\"><\/i><\/div>The Forest Footprint, What is it?<\/p><\/h4><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\" style=\"--awb-text-transform:none;\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Forest Footprint seeks to raise public awareness about the relationship between the consumption of common products and the impacts in terms of deforestation through a tool that simplifies information on the complexity of deforestation processes. The Forest Footprint corresponds to the risk that an area is taken from the forests to supply the consumption and lifestyle needs of an average Peruvian.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the individual level, it takes the form of a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/huella-forestal.pe\/quizz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quiz<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that allows you to find out, by answering a few questions, the area deforested due to your consumption habits. More specifically, it measures the land areas necessary to produce the resources (raw materials) at risk of deforestation consumed by an individual, a population or an activity, taking into account the current management of resources in the world or specific to a country.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 sep-underline sep-solid fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-four\" style=\"--awb-margin-top:1.5%;--awb-margin-top-small:0px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:0px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h4 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:16.8;--minFontSize:16.8;line-height:1.29;\"><div class=\"fusion-fa-align-left\"><i class=\"fb-icon-element-3 fb-icon-element fontawesome-icon fa-angle-double-right fas circle-no\" style=\"--awb-iconcolor:#ea773d;--awb-font-size:30px;--awb-margin-bottom:5%;\"><\/i><\/div>Why is it so important?<\/h4><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\" style=\"--awb-text-transform:none;\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peru is the fifth country with the most biodiversity in the world, 55% of its territory is covered with natural forests, which represents the ninth largest forest cover in the world. However, Peru in the period 2001 to 2021, lost almost 2.8 million hectares of tree cover, equivalent to 7.6 soccer fields per minute. In 2010, Peru ranked as the tenth country with the highest deforestation of tropical forests (FAO, 2010) and in 2018 Peru, according to the WRI, ranked as the seventh country with the highest deforestation. It is considered that 13% of the Peruvian Amazon has already been deforested.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To stop this process, it is important to realize that our consumption is directly linked to deforestation. De facto, More than 60% of deforestation in Peru is linked to export agriculture, produced in monocultures: coffee, cocoa, kion, pineapple, palm, livestock&#8230; among others.
