Within the framework of the project in Tingo María and the implementation of agroforestry systems with cocoa, a space was secured in March 2021 for the construction of a germination area for forest and fruit species.

This new germination space was achieved with the collaboration of the municipality of Leoncio Prado through a space provided in the nursery built in the village of Supte – San Jorge. This nursery was built through the project of “recovery of degraded soils through forest species”, a project whose execution period is projected for 3 years and managed by the provincial municipality.

Envol Vert team with the support of the technical team of the municipality built the germinator with hardwood and bamboo materials for the structure and to ensure the temperature and humidity required for the germination of the seeds, a mesh with an 80% shadow was used. The substrate for the germination bed is a mixture of farm soil, sand, compost, decomposed sawdust and rock phosphate. An opportunity to try out new agricultural techniques, according to the advice of the municipality’s specialists.

Currently there are seedlings of mahogany, cedro and ishpingo, three endangered species of the area, but there are also seedlings of pino chuncho, capirona, bolaina, leucaena, lemon, sacha inchi and we will be implementing seeds of copaiba, shihuahuaco, camu camu, aguaje and other species of interest to the working groups for the diversification of plots.
