Stefan Ortiz

Questions about the intersections between human lifestyles and the environment have been multiplying since Stefan graduated as an Economist from the National University of Colombia. What is it that makes our ways of living on the planet fail to respect and reconcile with the diversity of life on Earth? 

These questions only grew after a few years in Europe, including a Master’s degree in Development Studies at the Sorbonne University – Paris 1, project management with French and European development cooperation institutions, and advocacy with Oxfam in Brussels.

It was only during his studies in Agroecology in India, and several years of work in his country, Colombia, in rural development projects in collaboration with peasant and indigenous groups, that the unanswered questions began to turn into motivations for action. It is not in the frustrated observation of a decaying world that change happens. 

Questioning our way of living on the Planet becomes a transformative force when we join the efforts, experiences and learnings of people who act daily to solve their problems in conscious and respectful interaction with the diversity of life that surrounds us. 

It is in this spirit that he joined this beautiful team of committed and passionate people at Envol Vert and that he is very grateful for the opportunity to join its Board from 2021.
