Conservation Coordinator – Colombia
Bogotano, but with Amazonian roots, Leonardo is a nature photography enthusiast and a devoted admirer of plants and forest walks. He completed his studies in environmental engineering and began his professional journey working with various agencies in the Capital District as a specialist in water resources and environmental monitoring of infrastructure projects.
He was later invited to participate in several environmental initiatives in the Colombian Amazon, a region where he developed extensive knowledge and experience in supporting and providing technical guidance to local authorities and communities in processes such as ecological restoration, environmental land-use planning, disaster risk management, and climate change adaptation.
Driven by the Amazon’s natural richness and the desire to continue contributing to the sustainable planning and use of its natural resources, he pursued a master’s degree in Biological Sciences at the University of the Amazon, strengthening his expertise in biodiversity and conservation of Amazonian ecosystems.
After a significant period dedicated to teaching and research, and motivated to explore new personal
and professional challenges, he relocated to Colombia’s Caribbean region, where he has lived for the past three years.
In 2024, Leonardo joined the Envol Vert Colombia team as the person in charge of the conservation component, marking an important transition in his career by working in an ecosystem with unique environmental conditions and social dynamics.
