Tamarind and other tropical fruit preserves
The women of Victoria de San Isidro, located in the la SerranÃa de Perija mountain range, teamed up to form AMU Perijá, an initiative which resulted from their collective effort to produce food products for fairs and other events. Currently they produce tropical fruit jams, most notably tamarind sauce and other exotic jams such as guava and passionfruit.Â
This group of women was created to produce high quality jam which can be kept for long periods thanks to sound production methods. The fruit they use comes from the fruit trees on their own and their neighbours’ land, fruit which are often wasted such is their abundance.Â
